For this crochet project, the use of some kind of cotton yarn is recommended (as opposed to something such as acrylic), as cotton has a better ability to absorb moisture. One suggestion would be Lily Sugar and Cream.
Solid colors, rather than variegated, work best for this pattern, because the entire spiral effect becomes lost if using variegated yarn.
Do note that two colors are used at the same time, so this probably isn’t a beginner crochet pattern, unless you are a brave beginner.
A finished coaster measures approximately 3-3/4 inches in diameter, and note that gauge is not important for this pattern.
In addition to a 4.5 mm (Size 7) crochet hook, you will also need a yarn needle and scissors.
Stitches used to crochet these coasters include a magic ring, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch.
